Day 11 – “I’ll get up in another 5 mins, What harm can it do…!?”

I’d like to say that since i have been in Nepal i have turned over a new leaf and instead of being the old lazy Ryan that waits for the last minute to get up, i had become a new and improved model that got up in perfect time and was easily to school on time (again, i emphasize, i’d like to say. Of course, i cant) Every mother knows that teenagers are the hardest living things to get out of bed (and my mum can certainly vouch for that!) Wasn’t it Jesus that once said “Its harder for a rich man to get into heaven than a camel to get through the eye of a needle. But no way near as hard as getting a teenager out of bed in the morning! Caw blimey, i can change water into wine but ask me to get a teenager out of bed and even i’d be stumped! (this is of course untrue as Jesus raised many people from the dead and sleeping teenagers are basically dead to the world) But anyway, i woke up around 7/7:10 and just kept putting off getting up until i looked at my watch and realized it was 7:35 (Ahh! I need to be in school in 25 mins!) Obviously i had to skip breakfast (gutting) and i managed to pack and go by 7:50 and was at school dead on 8 after a more than brisk walk there.

The first lesson of the day was with Grade 5 & 6 with Dave and when we started out we had 18 kids, perfect amount for 3 teams of 6 and so decided to not split the class. But, annoyingly, he had a lot of late arrivals and ended up having 22 kids. It was a bit late to split and so we persevered as we were (like true men, not willing to admit we had made a mistake! Which, just for the record we didn’t!) I was asked to play on a pretty much all girls team apart from one other guy and so i made it my aim that i would let the girls try and score rather than me (we never scored) however, we did keep a clean sheet (yes, i did play in defense) and was told by Daniel (one of the trouble makers I had been told about by Susie) that he thought i was a really good player and i repaid the compliment (eventhough if he was really good, that made me world class!)

It was then Grade 3′s again for the 3rd day in a row. I was worried whether they would still be down about yesterdays lesson and what had gone on. But thankfully, they weren’t and were they’re usual noisy raucous selves. However, this time, things did get a bit out of hand and Leslie was not having any of it! (she is quite scary when she annoyed) Thankfully, they began to behave and we eventually had a good lesson which they seemed to enjoy and i again learned more about them as a class and as individuals which will be very important when i take the classes myself (which is next week!)

At lunchtime, i decided to go on the roof and watch the kids play their favorite game: fireball! (dodgeball, except with a few modifications) However, the watching soon turned into playing and i was impressed at the ability of the kids as i was out several times (most of those were me trying to show off and catch the ball and not being rubbish) My intentions were that if i learned how to play and manage the game, it would mean i could do some lunchtimes and Binod would get some lunchtimes off instead of having to do fireball every lunchtime (im so nice!)

Near the end of the day i had “Football Elective” (what on earth is that!?) which i didn’t know anything about until i talked to Dave at lunchtime and found out that it was just a group of secondary’s who want to play football and i could join if i wanted (well i wasn’t going to pass up another opportunity to show off now was i!) I was expecting the class to be full of boys and there being a lot of them. But, i was pleasantly surprised to find only 8 people, 4 of which were girls! So we enjoyed 70mins of 4-a-side with rolling subs with Dave and me joining in enjoying a real good confrontation with eachother (which i was so winning!) By then end of the lesson, we were all exhausted with many of the girls nursing swore body parts due to the boys (and me admittedly) shooting too hard but in my defense, all my shots were below waist height so good for the girls, bad for the boys (and yes, i couldn’t help but laugh)

At the end of the day i was getting my stuff from the staffroom i was talking with Binod. He then, out of the blue, told me that if i ever wanted to do something over the weekend with him we could plan it over a week and then over the weekend we could do something manly! (obviously! 2 men are not going to go flower picking are they!) And that i would get to ride on the back of his motorbike (wahoo!!) This offer i was most defiantly going to take up at some point as me and Binod have already become very good friends.

When i got back to the O’Neills i immediately realized that my back was absolutely killing and wished Natalie was there with me (she gives good massages!) and i was in dyre need of one! Unfortunately, no one as invented a teleportation machine yet and from what i know, God can’t transport people (but that didn’t stop me from asking him to!) So, regrettably, i had to go without a massage and just hope a good nights sleep would fix that.

(Only read this next bit if your name is Emma and i am missing your birthday while im in Nepal. If you do read on you will not get it and find it very very weird. Emma, you should be very privileged you have your own little paragraph in my blog!) I was walking up stairs to my room about to get my teeth things when, i kid you not, i did a mini sick!! This instantly made me think “Oh my goodness! I just did a mini sick! I must tell Emma!” So i rushed into my room, scrambled around for my phone, found it and wrote a text saying “Emma, i just did a mini sick!” Before suddenly realizing that i was of course in Nepal and can’t text you. This made me sad. But im telling you now so its all good and i eventually get to inform you of the mini sick (horrah!)

(Other readers (if there are any!) may now read on an i thank you for your patience) Tonight, we had the McMillan’s coming over for dinner and after dinner chat (as accustom, the kids were being kicked out and made to watch a movie) But we enjoyed dinner with them and somehow, yet again, the conversation turned to Natalie (i swear everyone in Nepal knows about her now!) But, Sue took pity on me as she realized it was soon going to turn into “Interrogation take 2″ and just said that we met at a Christian camp, she is just starting her 1st year of 6th form and got straight A*’s in ther GCSE’s (this still impresses me!) At that they all seemed to nod in approval and continued to eat.

Afterwards, me, Micah and Jess (the McMillans daughter) went into the computer and watched G.I. Joe which i thought would be rubbish and was pleased to see my theory disproved as i thrall enjoyed it and recommend it to others! However, some of the clever bits in the film were slightly ruined by Micah (who had already seen it) saying things like “Remember what that guy does” “Remember what he says” etc However, the film was still good and has been set up for a sequal.

It was then teeth, music listening and then bed as tomorrow, i would be getting a completly free day and as longer lie-in as i wanted! (so don’t expect a very interesting blog for tomorrow!)

I’ve been broweing online greater than 3 hours lately, but I never discovered any interesting article like yours.

It is pretty worth enough for me. In my view,
if all web owners and bloggers made good content as you probably did, the web might be a
lot more useful than ever before.
